Puneeta Chhitwal-Varma is an author, speaker, food advocate, and mom living in Toronto, Canada.
Puneeta is a writer and food advocate who teaches people how to lead a lowwaste, earth-friendly, abundant lifestyle. She is the founder of the popular food and culture blog Maple and Marigold. Puneeta believes that sustainability is far easier than we have been led to believe and that eating good food can be uncomplicated and accessible.
Puneeta has appeared on prominent national and international media including CTV’s The Social, Breakfast Television, CHCH, Global News, CBC, and Martha Stewart, among many others. She lives in Toronto with her husband, two kids, and their cat.
Her blog, Maple and Marigold started in 2016 as a love letter. Maple represents Canada, and marigold refers to her roots in India. Through media appearances, workshops, cooking demos, and food writing, Puneeta has built a popular and loyal community that is moving people towards delicious, good-for-you, good-for-the-planet habits.
Puneeta loves using turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties and so the most unexpected dish on her table (golden mashed potatoes, anyone?) may be the signature yellow colour.
She never leaves home without her reusable coffee cup. She has one stashed away in her purse and the car. There’s even a foldable one that her kids gave her for Mother’s Day last year that’s hiding out in her laptop bag.
Puneeta loves walking outdoors and exploring the diverse neighbourhoods of Toronto, but there was a time when she lived on the rapids and dreamed of being a white water rafting guide.
My first book, a good-for-us guide to attainable, climate-conscious, delicious cooking is out April 2024.
