"It's modern-day comfort when you want to nourish yourself and the planet." – Julie Van Rosendaal, The Globe and Mail
Over the last three years, my work has shifted rapidly. You may be aware that in my work, I wear multiple hats – writer, video creator, TV expert, workshop leader, cook, gardener, and, for almost 2 years now, author. I still can’t believe Good Food, Healthy Planet is turning TWO soon!
In all this time, my primary website was my blog, Maple and Marigold, a food and culture blog I started way back in 2016. What started out as a love letter to India and Canada slowly grew to become a place where people like me could connect more deeply with their roots through their kitchens. Over the last (almost) 10 years, I became really attached to this platform – it has become a part of me – it’s even how I introduced myself on videos…and in person!
“Hi, I’m Puneeta from Maple and Marigold.”
It took me years to notice that the way I was navigating through life had really shifted; my work had changed, and so I needed to change the way I was out in the world.
So here we are – Maple and Marigold isn’t going away anywhere, it will continue to be my blog, but I am making more space for myself over on puneeta.ca.
Puneeta’s website changes
My Instagram handle was the first to change – some of you were quick to notice, even though I hadn’t really announced it. My main IG handle is now @Puneeta.Author. @MapleandMarigold is still around – it’s a different account, and you can find and follow it here. Please excuse the mess – you are among the first to know 🙂
There is one other, even bigger change – my newly refreshed website, puneeta.ca, is live! Have a look at my backstory, click through the links and have a read. Reply to this email if you have a thought or advice. I would love to hear from you.
I’ll be frank, the last two years have been a vulnerable time for me. Since Good Food, Healthy Planet came out – maybe even a little before that – I felt all the feels! Of all the multiple hats I have worn for years, “author” felt the heaviest – even more than TV expert the first time I was on a top Canadian TV show in front of a live audience.
This past year and a half, it’s been deeply gratifying to hear how much people have loved my green book. Most recently, a friend called it a “slow burn of a read.” She had set it aside, she said, and then one day, at the grocery store, she picked up adzuki beans because she remembered they were on my kitchen “wishlist.”
In this time of conflict, clickbait, and AI-generated “too perfect to be real” compositions, I am thrilled that my publishers, TouchWood Editions, and I brought a real book to the world – one for real people going about their real lives, enjoying real food that’s good for us and the planet, too. I still get all the feels!
There’s more coming on my new website – a ton of articles from the archives and new resources will be up soon. So stay in touch. I am hoping my articles will be easier to find now; here’s hoping that I will be easier to find too. If you lead a team or host a community group and would like to chat about practical, sustainable living, you know where to find me. I am available for workshops, events and talks – drop me a note here and let’s chat.

Finally, welcome to Grounded, my new weekly-ish newsletter about good food, sustainable living and coming together to build a caring, climate-resilient world for all. Have a look at what’s planned for the newsletter on the sign-up page here. Forward the page to your friends and loved ones, so they can sign up too.
I’m really glad you’re here. This space, my work and all the ways we connect all feels like we’re expanding and becoming something more inspiring for me, and I hope it is the same for you.
